WATCH – Andy Shauf Performs “Covered In Dust” Acoustic

April 6th, 2015

Rhapsody recently featured Andy Shauf in their series, “Stripped Down.” As you can probably imagine, its just Andy Shauf on the edge of a lake playing an acoustic guitar with birds chirping in the background. Very chill.

WATCH – Young Fathers Tour Video + US DATES

April 6th, 2015

This week “the Scottish/Liberian/Nigerian trio Young Fathers set out on a massive headlining tour through the U.S., Canada, the UK and a few places in between. Ahead of the tour the group now share a preview of what to expect from their pop music revival. The clip [below], brilliantly narrated by their manager Tim London and partially shot while they were on tour in South Africa earlier this year, is an arty redefinition of what it means to make pop music in 2015. “Pop means something different where we’re from,” London says. “Where we’re from, pop is the soundtrack to youth. It includes all the genres apart from the most obscure ambient music. Just about every genre has its pop songs.” — via OkayAfrica

Their new album White Men Are Black Men Too is out NOW on Bid Dada.

WATCH – Rainy Milo’s “Bankrobber” Video (ft. Kossisko)

April 5th, 2015

Rainy Milo‘s cover of The Clash‘s 1980 single, “Bankrobber,” featuring the debut performance of Kossisko (formerly known as 100s) gets a pretty retro visual, directed by TK Anderson. Shot in an old bank in San Francisco, the “Bankrobber” video pairs up their sultry verses with some very old-school glam scenes in the vault and, of course, some of the best looking mugshot poses we’ve seen.” — via Complex

LISTEN – THUGLI’s Remix of Alison Wonderland’s “U Don’t Know” (ft. Wayne Coyne)

April 5th, 2015

Alison Wonderland has emerged as one of the brightest acts out of Australian, with her transition stateside taking place seamlessly over the course of the last year or so. The DJ/producer and all-around talent built up momentum through her impressive 2014 EP, Calm Down, as well as gaining the praise of Diplo after throwing down a memorable Diplo & Friends mix. It’s no wonder then why Alison has performances lined up for major festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, Firefly, and Electric Forest this year. Fans of Alison won’t have to wait too long either for new tunes, as her debut album, Run, drops [April 7th].” — via Complex

STREAM – Nadine Shah’s New Album ‘Fast Food’ @ Spin

April 3rd, 2015

“London-based songwriter Nadine Shah brings back her signature dark and soulful voice on brooding new album, Fast Food, out on April 7. The somber songstress’s first release since 2013’s Love Your Dum and Mad, again produced by Ben Hillier (Blur, Elbow, Depeche Mode), draws you in from the first striking instrumental while highlighting what really gives Shah’s music its power, the monstrous capability of her voice to growl and thrill.” — via Spin

LISTEN – The Fader Premiers Jaga Jazzist’s ‘Starfire’ + Tour

April 3rd, 2015

“Starfire was written and produced over a three year period, like the rest of the album, in Los Angeles, New York and Oslo,” [Jaga Jazzist] member and songwriter Lars Horntveth told the FADER via email. “This puzzle of a song was recorded in various studios and apartments and finally came together when I spliced two songs together. The two songs were very different, but somehow it made perfect sense for me. Starfire is a good introduction to how the rest of the album sounds. More synthetic, but also more organic and analogue than our previous albums.” Starfire is out June 2nd via Ninja Tune.” — via The Fader
