LISTEN – Noisey Premiers New Bent Denim Track

March 31st, 2015

“Honestly this is barely a song, more a stream of (horny) ventolin-albuterol over plaintive piano chords, but we totally dig it. The Nashville-New Orleans duo describe their music as “nightmare pop” and most recently they released their EP Derivative Works which features tracks from Kitty Pryde, Taylor Swift, and Angel Olsen, to name a few. The pair’s debut LP, Romances You, drops 4.28, but in the meantime, if you’re in New Orleans this Saturday, we suggest you see them at Saturn Bar and let them romance you in person.” — via Noisey

LISTEN – New Music From King Mono

March 29th, 2015

King Mono delivers a unique breed of futuristic funk, drawing influences from funk, R&B, house, and ’70s rock. The Brooklyn-based duo consists of multi-instrumentalists and producers Little Shalimar (Run The Jewels) and Jeremy Wilms. The two musicians previously worked together as members of the Afrobeat unit Antibalas and disco soul group Chin Chin. However, King Mono marks a transition from a full band setup to a studio project for Shalimar and Wilms. Using a variety of vintage Casio keyboards, portable drum machines, and a spirit of experimentation, the duo combine hip hop influences and electronic-leaning techniques.” — via Mass Appeal

LISTEN – New Roots Manuva, Produced by Four Tet

March 29th, 2015

“Today, British rapper/production vet Roots Manuva returns with a brand spanking new single, “Facety 2:11,” which features some gritty, tumbling production from none other than Four Tet (whose Essential Mix with man-of-the-moment Jamie XX is airing in less than 24 hours, so stay woke). Manuva had the following to say to FADER about the track: “The saga goes from tangent to tangent here in the primal decibel of infinite tribal dub-wise mutation show me your skank face, let’s get feisty.” Word. Keep an eye out for more Manuva muzik in the future, too.” — via The Fader
